OVERVIEW OF TRAINING
December 9-12, 2014
The December Network Team Institute training will be held December 9-12, 2014 at the Cultural Education Center at 222 Madison Avenue in Albany, New York.
Session Overview:

Thursday, 12/11 and Friday, 12/12:

- 3-8 ELA (Expeditionary Learning)
Content Details:
The December 2014 Network Team Institute (NTI) is a differentiated professional development training for regional, district, and classroom educators from across the state held at the New York State Museum in Albany, NY on December 9-12. The December Institute builds upon the work from October and includes learning experiences that:
- Assist teachers and coaches to identify, practice, and use best instructional moves and scaffolds for chosen common core standards.
- Address the needs of principals and other administrators who supervise teachers to identify, coach, and provide feedback to support best instructional moves and scaffolds for chosen common core standards.
- Continue to target components of the Curriculum and Instruction and Feedback categories of the 2014-2015 New York State Metrics & Expectations for teachers, principals, and Network Teams.

Registration Timeframe:
The Priority Registration Period will begin at 12:00 pm on November 5, 2014. During this time, registration is by invitation only. District and BOCES Contacts will receive the registration link and access code via e-mail shortly before this time. At the end of the Priority Registration Period, any unused invitations will expire. At 12:00 pm on November 12, if spots remain, the Extended Registration Period will begin and contacts are invited to register additional participants on a first-come, first-served basis. When all sessions have reached capacity, December NTI registration will close.

REGISTRATION FEES ARE ACCEPTED BY CHECK ONLY. Checks are due to NYSED by December 1, 2014 and must be made payable to: Regents Research Fund. No purchase orders or credit cards will be accepted for this event. Please be advised that no federal ARRA (Race to the Top) funds may be used to pay the registration fee as it will be applied towards the cost of food. The registration fee to attend two days is $78. The registration fee to attend all four days is $156.

Hotel Accommodations:
On the registration form, registrants are given the option to request single or double occupancy overnight accommodations. NYSED will pay for double occupancy hotel accommodations in accordance with established per diem State rates. In order to be eligible, registrants must select a roommate who is registered for the December 2014 NTI and staying for the same nights. If this information matches, NYSED will reserve a double occupancy room at a nearby hotel. Details of the reservation will be emailed to the participant by the end of November. Shuttle transportation will be provided to and from hotels where NYSED has made double occupancy reservations.
Room charges for single occupancy hotel accommodations are the responsibility of the participant. Participants who request a single occupancy room will be able to choose from a list of suggested hotels to make their reservation. Please be aware that NYSED does not make single occupancy room reservations.

Travel Reimbursement:

IMPORTANT: The deadline for submitting reimbursement forms for the December 9-12, 2014 training is January 16, 2014.
MATERIALS AND INSTITUTE PREPARATION:
- Materials for this Institute will be posted here as they are received from the Institute presenters. Participants are encouraged to download materials to a laptop computer or tablet prior to the training. Be aware that individual power sources are not available at this venue. Therefore, if participants have the option to choose between a laptop computer and a tablet, we highly recommend that they bring the device with the longer battery life. Additionally, please note that Wi-Fi access and cell phone service vary throughout the building.
- Meals will not be paid for with Race to the Top funds.
