Customization of Lessons in A Story of Units
Time: 4 Hours
Description: The purpose of this session is to adapt lessons from A Story of Units in order to:
- Empower teachers to intelligently reduce the length of a lesson.
- Empower teachers to customize lessons to meet the needs of their students.
- Intensely study the teaching sequences of the curriculum and thereby grow in pedagogical content knowledge and skill.
Using a three-step process, teachers will analyze the teaching sequence of the module, topic, and a specific problem set with its accompanying debrief. Following this analysis, teachers choose "must do," "could do," and "extension" problems. Finally, teachers hone the sample instructional dialogue in preparation for delivery the lesson. Exit tickets, homework, and assessments are adjusted to correspond if necessary.
