This is the second lesson in which students read the article “Award-Winning Survival Skills.” In this lesson, students reread to determine the meaning of challenging vocabulary in the following sections of the text: the opening; “Best Special Effect: The three-banded armadillo”; “Best Impersonator: The mimic octopus”; and “Best Action Hero: The spiny pufferfish” (for homework).
