News and Notes: Congratulations to the 2015 NYS Teacher of the Year!

In this edition of News and Notes, we congratulate Charles Giglio, the newly-named 2015 New York State Teacher of the Year, and we highlight Common Core success stories from parents and family members who have seen their children make great strides in the classroom. In addition, we have posted some other helpful resources on EngageNY: a toolkit that was shared at the July 2014 Convening, “Engage-Envision-Elevate: From Initiatives to Systems” and annotated Student Learning Objective (SLO) field samples from the 2013-14 school year. We also share a new EngagedVoices blog post and a resolution commemorating the 75th anniversary of the yellow school bus.

On September 11, the New York State Museum opened a new exhibition entitled "The Family Room at One Liberty Plaza - World Trade Center Site," which includes personal remembrances, photographs, and tributes from the Family Room at the World Trade Center site. New Yorkers reflect on the new exhibition in the accompanying video.
